Cyanogen has now announced on its blog that it’s partnering with Truecaller, believed to be the world’s largest mobile phone community for mobiles. Truecaller can find contact details globally given name or telephone number, and also has an integrated caller ID service to achieve call-blocking functionality. And now Cyanogen is interested in bringing this feature into future smartphones powered by its operating system. The company said the following: This might seem like a minor feature, but at least you won’t have to resort to third-party tools to block unwanted spam calls....

Dancing with the Stars sent home its first contestant of the season. Sadly, there will be no last dance for one of the 12 celebrity competitors after their final goodbye. While the premiere episode of Dancing With The Stars seemed to mostly be about front runner James Van Der Beek and his top-scoring dance or Sailor- Brinkley Cook’s outstanding performance only after a couple days’ notice of joining the show on account of her mother being injured in her last practice, fans had to say their first goodbye of the season to Mary Wilson....

A prediction of the future from season 1 of Smallville came true in the Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. While Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum declined to be in Crisis, the show still found a way to address his fate: Lex has become President of the United States. In the Batwoman episode of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) sent The Flash’s Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton), Earth-38’s Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) on a mission to find “the paragon of truth” who could help them save the multiverse....

Critical Role, the weekly web series in which a host of voice actors play Dungeons & Dragons together, rolled a natural 20 today with a new Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming animated feature, The Legend of Vox Machina. Shattering its original goal four times over in its first day, fans of Critical Role - who call themselves “Critters” - have already raised more than $3 million at the time of writing in order to help make The Legend of Vox Machina a reality....

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players in Belgium and the Netherlands recently discovered they could not open their previously purchased containers, the game’s version of loot boxes. It seems both countries are taking the decision by authorities that loot boxes are illegal gambling very seriously. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or CS: GO for short, is a multiplayer first-person shooter game that originally released in 2012. The game continues to get updates in content by its developer, Valve, which includes the addition of various loot boxes that allow players to buy special in-game goodies to help them level up and add cosmetic additions to their characters....

Netflix will debut the third season of Daredevil before the end of 2018. A few years back, Netflix launched their corner of the MCU by taking a street-level approach to superheroes. The Hell’s Kitchen side of this universe began with Daredevil but has quickly become populated by several other familiar faces from Marvel comics. The first season was a such a success that Netflix quickly moved to get a second season in, all before The Defenders brought the heroes together....

In São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil, criminals are stealing people’s iPhones, and after a few hours, they manage to access users’ bank accounts and then steal from their accounts. As reported by the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, this kind of theft has been happening since the beginning of the pandemic and has only gotten worse. In the story, people with an iPhone 11 and iPhone XR had not only their iPhone unlocked, but also their bank account hacked....

The co-host of Dancing with the Stars, Erin Andrews, has called out trolls who criticized her body and style in an epic social media smackdown. The offensive comments were a result of a pair of glittery green pants Andrews wore on Dancing With the Stars. The trousers were olive green and clad in sequins. Andrews paired them with a black blouse, open-toe heels, and statement earrings. Although it was surprising to see her in something other than her signature evening gown or cocktail dress, Andrews’ sartorial choices on the show have been consistent with or complementary to each week’s theme....

The three central characters in Netflix’s prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance could be parents of The Dark Crystal’s characters Jen and Kira. In The Dark Crystal, Jen & Kira are the two key figures, so it makes sense that the prequel would make some reveals about who they really are and where they come from. Although Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance doesn’t outright confirm who their parents are, it does drop some intriguing hints that make for strong evidence as to who they might be....

That was until the October 2018 announcement that Warner Bros. was set to close down FilmStruck. This move drew shocked and saddened reactions from those who appreciate vintage films, including several prominent filmmakers, such as Guillermo del Toro and Rian Johnson. Sadly, those pleas to reconsider fell on deaf ears, and FilmStruck streamed its last film at the end of November. One of the marquee features of FilmStruck was the inclusion of The Criterion Collection, which owns the rights to many amazing classic films....

Published on Tuesday, the report [PDF], Unlocking the innovation potential of Australian companies, identifies some of the current barriers to commercialisation include low levels of cross-sector commercialisation, lack of comprehensive innovation strategy, culture misalignment, and talent and skills capability mismatches. The report said several BCA members consulted described Australia’s research translation and commercialisation landscape as “fragmented, uncoordinated, and lacking in sufficient scale”. “They emphasised a lack of consistent and ambitious national strategy and planning as a barrier to industry achieving greater commercial outputs from science and technology,” it said....

For some people, the release of Microsoft’s MS Office suite on the iPad removes the last barrier that stood between a tablet and productivity. Yes, there have been mobile office suites around for more than a decade now, but for many, it ain’t Office unless it comes from Redmond. Well, the iPad now has MS Office. The suite comes in the form of three apps that can be downloaded separately – MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint....

Damon Lindelof revealed his motives for making the new TV adaptation of Watchmen. The creator of Lost and The Leftovers wants to honor its writer, and he thinks that we need more “dangerous shows.” He also wants to make it very clear that we shouldn’t trust people who wear masks. It was back in June of this year when it was first announced that Lindelof was working with HBO to develop a TV version of the seminal Alan Moore graphic novel....
