Warning: SPOILERS for Daredevil #16

The rule of New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk is nowhere near as terrifying as his former reign as Kingpin. But in the pages of Marvel’s Daredevil series, it’s seeming more and more like the greatest fall from grace belongs to Matt Murdock. And to his oldest enemy, his devotion to a neighborhood that wants him dead is absolutely hilarious.

In the previous issue it seemed like Daredevil was returning to his old form, whether or not Matt Murdock wants to admit he’s back in his old costume or not. With old flame and current training partner Elektra at his side, the two learned that the seemingly all-powerful Stromwyn family have taken control of New York. Locking down the police so that no uniform will set foot in Hell’s Kitchen, Matt and Elektra are on their own. And Fisk? He’s still in traction from the Stromwyns’ own demonstration of their authority over him… having him beaten bloody and thrown several floors down through their picture windows.

The previous issue ended with Matt and Elektra making love, the latter laughing happily as the first to realize that Matt Murdock was truly ‘back’ (as in ’escaped a shakedown and police pursuit by using the height of his senses). Unfortunately, their tryst is relatively short-lived, once Matt learns what has happened to Fisk while his back was turned. Sure, Fisk brutally murdered the Stromwyns’ friend with his bare hands. But for all the fear Wilson felt watching his entire plan to take over New York slip away… he can’t help but laugh once he realizes Daredevil is still holding on to his piece of the city. Read on below for the preview pages:

Longtime fans won’t be surprised to see Wilson and Matt on completely different pages, but the jury is out on which one of them is actually blind to what’s coming. Will Wilson get the last laugh? Or will Matt Murdock truly return to his former identity, and climb to higher heights than before? Read on for the full issue details and plot synopsis for the coming issue below:
