The superhero TV crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths was heavily anticipated by many fans… and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It delivered drama, action, humor, heartbreak, romance, and a lot of memorable cameos on top of that, one more epic than the other. But it managed something else as well.

It completely transformed the future face of the DC television universe, and it did it so sneakily that some fans didn’t even notice. There are many directions in which the superhero shows could go now that the crossover is over, but some of its implications are more significant and bombastic than others.

Multiple Supermen

Superman is one of the most popular DC heroes, after all, he was the first important superhero ever created. That’s why he couldn’t possibly miss out on the crossover.

But when Superman actually appeared, there was more than just one. Besides Supergirl’s cousin played by Tyler Hoechlin, the fans also got to see the return of another Superman, this one portrayed by Brandon Routh. At the end of the crossover, Routh’s Superman had been restored back to life and you can see him flying over the Earth. Does that mean that there are now multiple Supermen on Earth? And if so, how does it work?

Old Villains Will Return

The Team Flash has successfully managed to lock down or simply remove plenty of villains with superpowers over the years. The Crisis changed everything, though, and it looks like that some of the villains who were out of the picture for good, or so it seemed at least, might return once again to wreak havoc in Barry Allen’s beloved Star City.

Funnily enough, Barry doesn’t seem too worried about the possibility of once again facing some pretty frightening villains. Instead, he’s just happy to spend his time with Iris since he was convinced he’d die in the Crisis but didn’t in the end.

New Heroes Might Join The Universe

A whole new universe of possibilities opened up with the crossover’s finale. Most importantly of all, there’s now the chance that many new heroes might join the DC television universe and meet some of the already established superheroes, such as the Flash or Supergirl. To mention just a few, the Titans might appear on the scene to join forces with their fellow superheroes.

Or even Lucifer Morningstar could somehow find his way to them since it’s now clear his adventures take place in the same universe. Or the shows could introduce brand new heroes, such as Wonder Woman or the Green Lantern(s).

TV Version Of Justice League

The most famous DC superhero team appeared on the big screen not so long ago. However, the 2017 film Justice League didn’t appeal to many fans and critics mostly judged it negatively. Now it looks like that the fans might get a brand new version of the Justice League, but on TV.

At the end of the Crisis, the surviving heroes form a group and even get a brand new base and a round table, courtesy of The Flash. The members include Supergirl, Superman, White Canary, Black Lightning, and others. It’s quite possible that this is the beginning of their own Justice League.

Connecting Two Worlds

This is only a theory at the moment, but one that has some solid evidence behind it. It looks like that when all the Earths merged together into one, it didn’t go without difficulties, and some of the heroes and their counterparts from different Earth may have merged into one.

In The Flash’s latest episode, the current version of Harrison Wells, Nash Wells, has a brief vision of another of his doppelgangers. And, of course, two versions of Beth Kane, Batwoman’s sister, appeared in Gotham, which shouldn’t be possible. Something else is going on here and it’s most likely only a matter of time before the shows reveal what it is.

No More Crossovers

Don’t worry, this isn’t anything as dramatic as when the Scarlet Witch said in the comics: “No more mutants!” However, now that the heroes all live on one Earth, with the exception of Legends of Tomorrow, who are flying through time in their time ship, crossovers, as the fans used to know them, will no longer be the same.

Since the heroes live on the same planet, it’s much easier for them to work together and hang out like friends, not just meet when the situation is dire. That might take away some of the awesomeness of their meetings, but then again, every fan always enjoys seeing his favorite superheroes work together, no matter the situation.

From Villain To Hero

This is a simple truth - when you hold the Book of Destiny in your hands, you can do many things with it. Kill multiple Supermen, rewrite the reality so that you’re the Paragon of Truth instead of Superman, and even transform yourself from a villain to a hero in the eyes of an entire world.

Lex Luthor does all of this and Kara Danvers aka Supergirl is astonished when she realizes that now everybody believes that Lex is a good guy, a hero… Except for those who were at the epicenter of the Crisis. This begs the question - what else could have Lex Luthor changed that the shows hadn’t shown yet?

Supergirl And Her New Boss

The fact that Lex Luthor is suddenly a good guy and beloved by the world isn’t even the worst surprise awaiting Kara when the Crisis is finished. The costumed superhero also finds out that Lex Luthor is now pretty much her boss, as he took over the organization D.E.O. which monitors and protects the Earth against extra-terrestrial threats.

While nobody is probably better suited for this job than alien-hating, paranoid Lex Luthor, it’s not a stretch to imagine that he and Supergirl will never become work pals. Plus, it also means that the agency could now switch to killing aliens, instead of just detaining them.

Damaged Heroes

Now that the Crisis over, the heroes could feel relief… Except that things won’t ever be the same for them again, a fact which some of the heroes find more difficult to deal with than others. While Barry Allen aka The Flash now seems more optimistic and ready to take on the world, different superheroes could struggle with the new reality they live in.

For example, Sara Lance mourned the death of her close friend Oliver Queen and it’s doubtful she’d get over it any time soon. And then there’s Kara Danvers who witnessed the destruction of many planets and couldn’t stop it - something which left its marks on her.

Open Door For New Relationships

Let’s end this list on a more positive note. Even though the Crisis hit the heroes hard, they mostly came out of it alive and with their health intact. And now, since they’re all living on the same Earth, it’s quite possible that the fans might see their favorite heroes create new relationships, both romantic and friendly.

After all, it’s much easier for them to interact with one another than before, when they had to travel to alternate Earths, which was no easy task. Some fans ship Kara and Kate Kane, but there are many options where the heroes could move from now on.
