Crisis on Infinite Earths, the crossover that would outdo all the past crossovers, officially changed the Arrowverse forever after concluding the 5-part saga on January 14. After having the entire Multiverse destroyed, it was up to the remaining heroes of The CW’s DC TV lineup to undo what the Anti-Monitor had caused. That was easier said than done as it involved all the Paragons as well as Oliver Queen now acting as the Spectre to create, literally, a new universe. The final two parts took place on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow as they finished up the remaining hours of the crossover.

With Arrow using its hour to resume the crossover, it was one of the show’s final three episodes before the series closed out on January 28. Given that a lot of things happened in the fourth installment of the event, there’s a lot to a breakdown in terms of the best moments. Having said that: it’s time to look at the best moments from part 4 of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Disclaimer: this list will include major spoilers from Arrow season 8, episode 8 which is part 4 in the crossover.

The Origin Story Of Mar Novu

With the Monitor being such a big part in this year’s crossover, it was only a matter of time before viewers learned more about his backstory. Marv Wolfman, who wrote the original comic series of the same name, actually got to come in and co-write this episode, particularly because of the Mar Novu story. Since this would be the last time we’d ever see the Monitor again, it was proper to see part 4 go back in time to show viewers how he was like before he got to the Crisis.

Lex Luthor Tries to Manipulate Mar Novu

Who doesn’t love when Lex Luthor tries to negotiate with an alien being that is practically a God? Seeing Lex casually and easily make himself at home at Mar Novu’s home planet was both insane and hilarious. Even though Lex doesn’t succeed, just the idea of him trying to get to Mar Novu was funny in itself. Lex might be a criminal mastermind, but it should never be too easy for a villain to win.

Another Round With The Shadow Demons

What’s not to love about seeing a group of superheroes fighting it out with a literal army of demons? While the Shadow Demons barely get explained in the crossover, they were some of the coolest aspects of the event through the great VFX and the comic bookish design.

As this was the hour before the crossover’s finale, there had to be at least one more fight with the demons before everything was said and done. Even though the demons make a return in the final part, this is technically the last time they fight the Paragons.

The Return To The Speed Force

One of the biggest components in part 4 is the Speed Force, as it becomes a key part of the episode. While it’s definitely one of the more confusing aspects of The Flash in general, they dialed it up to an 11 in this part. Since this was technically Arrow’s hour of the event, it did feature some major callbacks to past episodes. It even went back to the day when Barry and Oliver first met all the way in the show’s second season. Despite the confusing element that the Speed Force played in this part of the event, it was still one of the more nostalgic aspects of the Crisis.

Laurel Lance’s Only Moment In The Crossover

Despite Earth-2 Laurel Lance being one of the Arrowverse characters to feel the Crisis effects the most, the new Black Canary never appears in the crossover. Even though she lost her world during the eighth season, the former Black Siren is nowhere to be seen or even referenced.

However, her Earth-1 counterpart makes a cameo during Barry’s trip to the Speed Force. As he is looking for the White Canary, he runs into the moment from season 3 after Sara had been murdered. Even though it would have been more proper to have the Earth-2 version participate, it was nice to see any version of Laurel appear.

Ryan (Almost) Gets To Mar Novu

Ryan Choi became one of the highlights of the crossover as the DC character made his live-action debut. Being the Paragon of Humanity, Ryan connects to the god-like being in a way that the other Arrowverse characters didn’t. Even though it doesn’t work out in the end due to history always making sure that at least one Mar Novu in the Multiverse commits the big mistake, just seeing Ryan’s ability to connect to someone was special. Ideally, this crossover won’t be the final time that viewers see Ryan Choi in the Arrowverse.

The Anti-Monitor Vs The Spectre

After the massive build-up in part 4, Oliver has his final battle in life against the Anti-Monitor. With the heroes busy fighting the demons, Oliver, as the Spectre, takes on his most powerful enemy of all time. The quote “You have failed this universe,” is perhaps the best usage of Oliver’s iconic “you have failed this city” phrase throughout Arrow’s run.

While this wasn’t the first time fans got to see Oliver with superpowers, it was certainly the best scenario with the former Emerald Archer, essentially, having godlike powers.

Oliver’s Final Death

As tragic as it was to see Amell’s character pass away for the final time, it was a pivotal moment nonetheless. The crossover didn’t necessarily have a lot of major character deaths, but Oliver’s sacrifice still felt like the loss of a billion. With Barry and Sara by his side, the actors got to share a powerful scene together as Oliver eventually passes away, making part 4 of the crossover one of the most heartbreaking hours.

The New Universe

But as devastating as Oliver’s death was, his sacrifice wasn’t in vain. As Barry and Sara mourn the loss of their friend, they soon begin to see the new universe be reborn. While it’s vaguely at first, the great combination of VFX and Blake Neely’s score, made that final scene in part 4 live up to its expected effect. This was the end of the new beginning for the Arrowverse as everything was about to change following Oliver’s big act.

Flash of Two Worlds

With all the cameos and special guest spots that Crisis on Infinite Earths had, there was one major surprise that even cast members didn’t know about. During part 4, Barry’s trip to the Speed Force leads him to cross paths with the DCEU as Ezra Miller’s Barry made a surprise cameo. The minutes the two actors got to share with one another did so much for fans of the two universes. Not only does the DCEU officially exist within the Arrowverse Multiverse, but the fact that Miller and Gustin got to share a scene together felt like a payoff, even though there was never a build-up to something like this. Ideally, this won’t be the last time the two actors get to share the screen together following the crossover.
